The Purple Symphony Ensemble

The Purple Symphony Ensemble
Singapore

Widely known as Singapore’s largest inclusive orchestra, The Purple Symphony made its debut in July 2015 as a newly put-together outfit by the Central Singapore Community Development Council. Then an 80-member-strong orchestra, it has grown year to year, with more individuals with and without special needs joining in the meaningful musical movement.

Beyond being a platform for the inclusion of people who are different, The Purple Symphony is a ready avenue for musicians to learn and share music with one another, support inclusion, celebrate their abilities and serve the community as one.

Comprising five key musical sections – percussion, plucked strings, bowed strings, winds and choir, The Purple Symphony is a collaborative project made possible with the support of Lighthouse School, Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore, Pathlight School, Singapore Cheshire Home, Singapore Management University, Singapore National Youth Chinese Orchestra and passionate individuals with a talent for music.
